When I saw the Create with Connie and Mary CCMC176 Sketch Challenge, I immediately thought of quilts and the Spice Cake DSP. My Grandma has made all kinds of handmade quilts, from the embroidered quilt tops to the pieced quilt designs. The pieced quilts have always been my favorite and that’s what this sketch resembled to me.
I started with a Soft Suede rectangle and added 3 patterns from the Spice Cake DSP. Then I ran the whole thing through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice EF. That gave a faux quilted fabric look to my panel. I thought the upper left corner needed something, so I stamped the Day Of Gratitude medallion with VersaMark ink just to give a light impression. I stamped the Day Of Gratitude leaves with Pool Party and Soft Suede, cut them out, and popped them up with dimensionals. I finished with a “flagged” greeting and a mini silver brad.

TGIF! Several months ago, I saw this beautiful invitation in Stampin’ Success, a magazine for SU! demonstrators. And I wanted to create something similar.
The original card uses the fabulous “Bliss” stamp set so many of us got during Sale-A-Bration. I decided to get the look through texture and sponging. I used the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder on some First Edition DSP, then sponged the piece with Rich Razzleberry to show off the embossing. I also used the Perfect Polka Dots folder on the Basic Gray cardstock to replace the Textured Cardstock in the original.
I finished my card with the largest flower from the Flower Fusion sizzlet, the medium flower from the Boho Blossoms punch, and a Basic Pearl. I must say this was probably my favorite card of the 11 swap cards I made.

Good morning, and welcome to UDI’s MDS Monday Challenge #22 – Anything Goes. I wanted to create a card that uses most of the new 2011-2013 In Colors: Lucky Limeade, Calypso Coral, Wisteria Wonder, Pool Party, and Island Indigo. I used every color except Lucky Limeade on this card. In real life, this would be a one-layer card. For MDS, I used a separate layer for the center and made it the same color as the background (Pool Party). But added a mat in Island Indigo to get the “hand drawn line” look.

TGIF! These are the final 2 pages from my Rocky Mountain National Park vacation. And they focus on the animals we saw while we were driving. Everybody was looking for animals, so we’d come upon all these cars on the side of the road. And you knew, the animals had to be close by :-)

TGIF! Today’s card is the final card in the Love Letters card set I made. I used one of my favorite sketches for this card. I’ve used this sketch many times before, and I’ll probably continue to use it in the future. Do you have favorite card sketches or scrapbook layouts? When my creativity is low or I need something quick, I tend to fall back on sketches that I’ve found really appealing in the past. But using different DSP, colors, or stamps give the new project a whole different feel.

Good morning! I needed to make a set of cards as a Thank You gift. I decided to focus on the Love Letters DSP. I truly love this paper. Black and White (or Vanilla in this case) is such a striking combination. And when you add Red, it’s just beautiful. I’ve also just described the majority of my wardrobe. Now, you understand why I love and use this DSP so much :-)
Today I’ll show you the first card. Check back the throughout the week, and I’ll show you the rest of he cards. For this card's focal point, I stamped an image from the Pocket Silhouettes stamp set. Then I punched small flowers to place on top of the stamped image. I also added centers to the flowers using the White Signo Gel Pen.

Happy Friday! Today’s card is also a Thank You card from my last Stamp-A-Stack. I think this card has a very chic and elegant feel to it. Yet, it was a very simple card to make. The polka-dot paper from the Love Letters DSP was my starting point. I added Pretty in Pink Satin ribbon to dress it up. And to give that finishing touch to the card, I used the Scallop Edge Border punch on the edge of the card front. Then I added a thin piece of Pretty in Pink cardstock on the inside of the card, to balance out the card.

Good morning! This is one of the cards we made at Stamp Club last weekend. I wanted to make a masculine Valentine so the ladies could give it to their spouses. I love the Basic Black and Very Vanilla patterns in this Love Letters DSP. I added Basic Gray and Baja Breeze to keep that masculine feel. And, of course, some Riding Hood Red hearts since it is a Valentine’s card.

Good morning! I was in the mood to make something other than a Valentine’s card. And the UDI Color Challenge #19 gave me a great starting point. The colors are Garden Green, Peach Parfait, Real Red, and Basic Black. Next, I turned to Stamping 411’s Saturday Sketch #186.
I immediately thought of the small black polka dot pattern in the Love Letters DSP and knew that would be my background. From there I just added the other colors, using Peach Parfait as my accent color to stand out.

Today’s card features a new technique for me. As a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, I get a monthly magazine full of information and ideas. This card was CASEd from a Faux Silk example in that magazine. I used this technique to get that soft floral image. It’s really easy to do, and we’ll be doing this at a future Stamp Club.
I stamped with Rose Red ink on Very Vanilla cardstock. Then I crinkled some tissue paper and straightened it back out. Finally I used my Anywhere Glue Stick to adhere the tissue paper to my stamped image and trimmed the excess tissue paper.
My colors are from the Stampin' 411 Color Inspiration 147 -- Rose Red, So Saffron, and Wild Wasabi.

The Occasions Mini Catalog is available TODAY! So it’s only fitting that today’s card features a couple products from the new Catalog. I used the Tulips Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to add detail to the Baja Breeze portion of my card. Then I used a couple different patterns from the Springtime Vintage Designer Series Paper. QUICK TIP: I originally saw this idea for repeating the tulip border impression on Darlene McCallum's blog. My tip is to emboss the bottom row first. Then insert the cardstock back in the embossing folder so the edge of the folder is just above the first embossed impression. If the initial impression is in the folder, the next roll through the Big Shot will flatten out that impression.

Good morning, I'm sorry for the late post today. It's been a hectic Monday. Let's move on to the good stuff. I've learned to embrace all the challenges I can find. Being color-blind, I tend to use the same color scheme over and over. So the color challenges give me new color schemes to work with. And I love the sketch challenges because they give me a template to work with. I look at the sketch and think about the stamps that work in that layout. Add the color challenge, and all the hard part to making a card is done!
Today, my sketch came from Sketch Frenzy Friday's SFF111210. And my color scheme came from Color Dare's CD84. I think this is such a soothing color combination, perfect for a Thank You card. I hope you like it. Thanks for stopping by!

Good Morning! I hope everybody enjoyed the extra hour this past weekend. I sure did. I know I'm in a minority, but I love Winter. Keep in mind that I live in Texas, so we don't get a lot of snow, if any. (I didn't love Winter as much when I lived in Kansas City, MO!) I love the cool evenings and even getting dark earlier. That makes me feel like I should be inside doing stuff. Hopefully, I'll be able to get more Stamping and Scrapbooking done this Winter.
Today I'll show you a card I created last night for the CCMC123 challenge. I love this sketch, I can see myself using it for so many cards. And this is my friend Janet's favorite color combination right now. My favorite color is Red, so I find myself using this combination a lot lately, too.
