Happy Easter !

Today I’m showing you the Easter Treats I’m giving my best friends, Alice and Janet. You’ll also see the masculine “mostly undecorated” one for Janet’s husband, Tyler. I found these great stainless buckets in the Target Dollar Spot. I thought they’d make great Easter “baskets”. Well, I’ve already decorated buckets, boxes, and other containers for my friends. So, I wanted to do something different. Then I was inspired by all the paper flowers I’ve seen on various blogs. I decided to make an Easter Bouquet. I didn’t really have any specific flowers in mind since I don’t have any of the Sizzix Flower Dies – YET. I just grabbed my punches are started forming flowers.

The tallest flower is one of the “fan fold” flowers. I started with a two 1-1/2” x 6” strips of the In Color DSP. I punched the strips with the Scallop Trim Border Punch and folded each scallop. Then you connect all the ends together, forming a circle, and adhere that to a punched circle. I added a Big Designer Button to the front.

The next tallest flower is made with the XL Scallop Circle. I cut slits between all the scallops to make “petals” and formed them into a more natural looking curve. The inner petals are from the Modern Label Punch. I finished the front off with a 3/4” circle and Rhinestone brad.

The shorter flowers are from the Flower Fusion die and the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch pack.

Then I saw this Punch Art Bunny on Lyssa Griffin Zwolanek’s blog and thought it’d be the perfect finishing touch for my “bouquet”. I also decorated the backs of all the flowers and added a cotton tail to my bunny. I had a hard time photographing these, so please let me know if you have any questions.

Last week, I showed you some quick cards using the Deck The Halls DSP. Today, I'll show you a gift box covered with the Deck The Halls DSP. I found these photo boxes on sale at a craft store. I thought they'd be great for giving treats to some of my friends. At first, I struggled with how to use this gorgeous paper. The collage styling makes it difficult to cut and overlap. I decided to wrap 12 x 4 strips around the corners. And finish with cardstock. I'm pleased with how it turned out.

The card also uses the same DSP. I made an Easel card to decorate the top of the box. It lays flat for easy transportation. Then it stands up as a finishing touch. Oh, I used velcro sticky dots to adhere the card to the box, so it can be removed

And I just read that the Paper Players Challenge this week is to use your favorite Color Combinations. Well, this is my favorite right now. Red is my favorite color, and I love how the Crumb Cake and Early Espresso add to the richness of the Cherry Cobbler. I'm glad I can keep using these colors into Valentines! Easy Christmas Gift Ideas

It's 16 days until Christmas. Are you ready? If you're like me, you're NOT ready. Stayed tuned to my blog, I'll be posting simple card and gift ideas from now until Christmas. I hope you find some ideas that spark your creativity. Today I'm showing you 2 simple ideas for gifts.

The first one is an easy Gift Card Holder. This was one of the Make & Takes at my Open House last weekend. Several ladies are making more of these because they're so easy. Directions are below the Front and Inside display pictures.

Here are the directions:
     Cherry Cobbler Card Base = 6 x 4-1/4, score at 3 to fold in half
     Always Artichoke Art piece = 2-3/4 x 4
     Deck the Halls accent strip = 2-3/4 x 1
     Deck the Halls Holder = 3 x 2-3/4, score 3/8 in from each end of the 3" side (3/8 &  2-5/8)

     To form the Holder (or "pocket"):
             Apply Sticky Strip across the very bottom (3" side), score line to score line. Then fold the 3/8" sides inward and adhere them in place. Your gitt card should now fit in the little "pocket" you just made.
             Apply Sticky Strip on the outsides of the folded pieces to adhere the "pocket" to your Cherry Cobbler base.

　


The second gift idea is for a decorative Post-it Note holder. This is a 5 x 7 plastic frame you can find at any discount or craft store. I cut a 5 x 7 piece of Cherry Cobbler for the mat. Added a beautiful 4-3/4 x 6-3/4 piece of Deck The Halls DSP. And finished it with the punched sentiment from Bells and Boughs.  I used my tape runner to stick the Post-it Note pad to the plastic.  (You can also include seasonal art pieces to complete this gift.)

Altered Dollar Spot item

Good Morning! I wanted to show one of the Halloween gifts I created for my friends. I found these boxes in the $1 bin at Target over the summer. I hought they'd be perfect Halloween treat gifts if I decorated them. First I cut off the ribbon that came with the box. Then I covered the outside of the box with Black paper. Next, I decorated each side with a different design. And finally, I attached our Black striped ribbon for a handle. I think they turned out great. My friends will be pleased because these hold a lot of candy!
